WMHBC: – CODE OF CONDUCT

​

1.  GREEN

​

1.1 Maintenance operations take priority over members bowling.

​

1.2 The daily charge (Greenage Fee) is applicable for visitors is shown in the cover of the greenage book that is kept in the pavilion.

​

1.3 The number of jacks allowed on the green at any one time is FIVE.

​

1.4 Members should take special care to avoid damage to the green at any time. ‘Bowling from the hip’, causes long lasting damage and must be avoided.

​

1.5 After finishing their end, members are requested to walk around other matches being played on the green.

​

1.6 Members are requested to walk, not run.

​

2.  CLUB EQUIPMENT

​

2.1 Club equipment, including bowls, mats, jacks and measures must not be removed from the club premises without committee approval.

​

3.  LEAGUE BOWLING

​

3.1 The club’s annual subscription must be paid before entering any league or competition.

​

3.2 Members are liable for any fees due when competing in league, or other competitions.

​

3.3 Members must comply with the dress code applicable to the league in which they are playing.

​

3.4 The club colours of pale/mid/royal blue shirts/T-shirts and fleeces are desirable, but optional.

​

3.5 Other play during league matches is not permitted.

​

4.  CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR

​

4.1 Players are expected to dress in a manner which neither harms the image of the sport or club, nor gives offence to other players or spectators.

​

4.2 Players are not permitted to play bare chested or wear sleeveless tops.

​

4.3 Players are asked to be mindful of the movement of clothing during play.

​

4.4 All players must wear enclosed shoes when on the green. Block heels, open toed sandals, flip flops etc are NOT allowed. This is a BCGBA health & safety rule and must be complied with.

5.  FLOODLIGHTS

​

5.1 Floodlights must be turned off by 10.30pm. Members using the lights are responsible for switching them off.

​

6.  SECURITY

​

6.1 After unlocking the gate, please close the lock around the locking bar to avoid its theft.

​

6.2 Members using the green are responsible for ensuring the pavilion and gate are locked when leaving.

​

7.  NEW AND INEXPERIENCED MEMBERS

​

7.1 Existing members are expected to welcome, encourage, and assist such members to improve their game.

​

8. CLUB AFTERNOONS/EVENINGS/SOCIAL BOWLING

​

8.1 Club afternoons/evenings will normally be organised by a nominated club member.

​

8.2 Members will normally play doubles. However, if numbers demand, playing in fives or sixes will be allowed, (although such play is outside BCGBA rules).

​

8.3 Members wishing to take part on club organised social bowling are asked to arrive 10 minutes before bowling commences to allow time for the draw to be made.

​

8.4 At other times (excluding league and competition matches) members may arrange their own games for social or practice bowling.

​

9.  CLUB COMPETITION MATCHES

​

9.1 Club competition matches have priority on the green and have the ‘Right of way’.

​

9.2 Other players should not bowl or walk across the players land while they are bowling.

​

9.3 Competition matches only: The maximum number of jacks allowed on the green is four.

​

9.4 Subject to these conditions, there are no restrictions on other members playing at this time.

​

9.5 Timing of competition matches: Where possible, matches should be arranged for mornings or late afternoons to avoid those matches which have priority, i.e. social bowling, friendly and league matches

​

N.B. The green is normally cut on Monday and Thursday mornings and play must not impinge upon this.

​

9.6 Finals day: The green is closed on the morning of finals day. Practice is only allowed during the 30 minutes before the first final is due to start.

​

10. PENALTIES

​

10.1 For league matches refer to the appropriate handbook.

​

10.2 For the finals of club competitions, inappropriate clothing may result in the member being asked to retire.

​

10.3 The committee reserves the right to ask inappropriately dressed members to absent themselves from play.

​

10.4 The Committee reserve the right to amend the above as circumstances require.
